If this gesture can be pardoned, I would say that this is excrutiating to listen to Ustad Fateh Ali Khan these days. I fully agree that he indulges in “senseless shouting” along with his son Rustam these days. What he is or was good at, is nothing else, but TAANKARI. However, these days he has simply forgot the elaboration of raga. (in 90% cases he sings Megh, and that too without any imagination at all). I fail to understand why. If age does not permit you to sing, simply dont sing. BUT, perhaps the hardwork involved in learning classical music is so great taht its simply impossible to let it go, even if one is unable to do it. (Like Ustad Salamat Ali did in his last few years). No offence meant. Seek your precious opinions. Regards

hi
I recently came across a video of Ust. Fateh Ali Khan’s Darbari on u-tube. I was instantly raptured by his music and deep exploration of the raga. I have incessantly been searching for his music since - and thus have reached this place!
I am really grateful that you have shared his music- so that the rest of us can be inspired by it. Its a pity that much of it is not readily available
I am from India. Also wish it was easier to travel to the place where such splendid music was created and experience the hallways where it would have echoed.
You are fortunate to have seen and experienced Ustad Fateh Ali Khan’s singing
Best wishes!
ameya

Ref Prof Hasan Azad’s kind note re Moumita Mitra’s serene & tranquil vocal music. I did visit the 2 web pages but was unable to play except a short starting piece of tanpura sound. Kindly advise how to download the entire item. Thanks & regards.

I forgot to add. The music should first be downloaded. One can then listen to it uninterrupted.

Javaid Ali Khan has written : ” music means peace, serenity, tranquility…”
A good example of this kind of singing is

and a lighter example is

The artist is also an honours computer science graduate!

Only as a token of respect and love I wish to record my complement for Ust. Fateh Ali Khan that the Maetro is the most accomplished Vocalist of today. He has such wide and varied work of unsurpassed quality to his credit that very few can claim to match. I pray for his health and happiness.
But, with a heavy heart I also wish to add that I happened to listen to him in the recent past where he was accompanied by his son Rustom Fateh Ali Khan. It was torture. His son, no matter how dear he is to his father, always tries to out perform Fateh Ali Khan by shear “out shouting”, as if he is emulating late Amanat Ali Khan. To add to the agony of the audience, Ust. Fateh Ali Khan also endeavors to match his son. It is a strange and sad spectacle as the ustad often looses his signature vocal tonality. I pray they learn to sing in a disciplined and composed manner instead of engaging in a dual of “volume” alone: music means peace, serenity, tranquility…

I was fortunate to have heard Fateh Ali Khan Saheb a couple of times in the UK.
One of the Greatest Vocalists of our time without doubt!
Both these videos are superb.

What can anyone say about this “musician’s musican”. He is simply a giant of singer hailing from the great Patiala gharana, and we pakistanis are so fortunate to have such monumental artists, likes of whom are none, anywhere in the world. One of the Tansens of this century!
