Rangi Khan - Gorakh Kalyan
Here, Aurangzeb Khan Sahib (known as Rangi Khan) is playing the shehnai at a ceremony to commemorate the Pride of Performance award by the Government of Pakistan.
Aurangzeb Khan was a student of Ustad Ghulam Hassan Shaggan’s father Ustad Bhai Lal and passed away in his early fifties. His father Ustad Alamgir Khan introduced the clarinet to the realm of Indian classical music.

Thank you very much Anjum. It is very nice of you to share that information and link to Ustad Younus’ cd! I will try and get a copy.
I just remembered one more recording of Gorakh Kalyan, which I have heard and purchased from khazana.com
It is by a relatively obscure artist (he died prematurely so I have heard): Rasik Lal Andharia
He sings ‘Ramrang’ bandish: sajan bin baware vilambit/drut.
As a matter of fact, the bandish sung by Veena Sahasrabuddhe in Raag Gorakh Kalyan is the same and mostly sounds as though she is imitating Andaria’s unique sound. However, she takes it up a notch when she renders her own tarana composition following the bandish. That alone makes it worth a listen..

An excellent Gorakh Kalyan by Rashid Khan is commercially available. A six CD set of Agra gharana gaiki is also commercially available. I will check if it includes Ustad Younus Hussain Khan.

Oops I forgot to mention one other very awesome recording of Raag Gorakh Kalyan which is by the Agra Ustad–Younus Hussain Khan.
AMAZING Gorakh Kalyan by him. It has pathos.
You can listen to that at Rajan Parrikar’s mother’s library:

To find a few more recordings by Younus (aside from our own sarangi.info’s vocal section) you can look here:

Again, I must say with a bit dismay that I have never found any commercially available CDs of this Ustad. Let alone his wonderful rendition of Gorakh Kalyan!

This is one of my most favorite raags. Rageshri, Hameer, Bihag, and Darbari being some of the others…
Unfortunately, not too many people perform this raag. Imrat and Vilayat Khan or Kishori for example…
And those who do perform it such as Bhimsen and Jasraj… are not able to extract/display the beauty of it such as Ustad Salamat Ali and Nazakat Ali, Parveen Sultana and Veena Sahasrabuddhe.
Surprisingly, the only other Gorakh Kalyan that I have listened to and really appreciated was by shehnai performer Ustad Ali Ahmed Hussain.
Ustad Rangi Khan has done a competent job.

A very beautifull and soothing alap, by Ustad Rangi Khan. I wonder what raag it was?
