Aftab Datta’s Summer Collection

Dear Visitors,
Aftab tried twice to send me all this music online through sendspace, and each time I got around to downloading, it would no longer be available. This time he has gone a step further and done it again: bypassing my personal inertia, he has singlehandedly edited, converted, named, tagged and uploaded, not to mention shared all these audio files with everyone. One could safely assume that he is a very motivated man.
Thank you for your patience and special interest in music on this website!

It is not Ustad Sharif Khan’s voice. Also, the playing is so much out of tune that the probability that it is Ustad Shareef Khan is nil. Just compare it with the Kafi. That isa a different world altogether. Don’t you hear it yourself?

@Hassan Azad
Thank you for the comment. The Megh track is from a record with his likeness on the cover and his name on it. I think you can hear his voice in the beginning, too.
As for the bansuri jugalbandi, that label will be corrected.
Thank you for the kind words at the end of you comment.
Regards,
Aftab

The Megh attributed to Shareef Khan Sahib is falsely attributed to him. It is not his style .Just compare it with the Kafi which has also been uploaded in this collection. It is a disservice to him to claim that he played this particular Megh. His notes were perfect, whereas the player is besura quite frequently. Who told you that it is Shareef Khan? Please remove it from the site.
Also, I didn’t hear any Vichitarvina in the Salagvarali Todi “duet ” with the flautist Saeen Ditta Qadri ( One can really hear a different Re - lower than komal, which is quite amazing for North Indian music).
We are grateful to you for the time and material resources which you must have invested in making available this music. We all do ourselves a favour in downloading from this site .
Kind regards,
Hassan Azad

Dear C Parthapratim:
Thank you for pointing out the files which need to be fixed on the back-end.
If I may request, again…once you find an error in the system truncating a particular file, please notify me, aftabdatta@gmail.com - I am taking note on all the tracks which need to be fixed this weekend.
Again, just copy the above email, paste in the “to” area of an email message, and put the track name in the text, then hit “send”, to me. These problems will be fixed.
Thank you,
Aftab

Mr. C Parthapratim,
Thank you for pointing out the corrupted files.
Even so, your “Great disappointment.” impels me to beg a new lease on life while inquiring as to whether you are nurturally discourteous, genetically silly, or both?

I found problems in more tracks
1. Gopeshwar Bandyopadhya
2. Bade Ghulam Kedar, after downloading 94 MB, I discovered that only 5:50 m is playable while rest of the data is junk. Great disappointment.
Please correct these problems if possible.
Thanks

Dear Aftabji,
Thanks for the wonderful treasure. A few comments. I believe the Bageshree by Roshanaara begum is actually by Hirabai Barodekar.
